To establish environmental controls is a crucial problem that confronts all people in the world. Aware of the fact that corporations should play the vital role in the global conservation, every employee at HitachiSoft has been proudly involved in the environmental activities so as to provide our customers with environment-friendly products and services.

We,at HitachiSoft, have been promoting environmental activities based on the company's slogan” Leaving a Healthier Planet for Future Generations”. This is our "Save submerging Tuvalu" poster, which was made to raise employees' awareness about the impending danger of global warming. The satellite image of Tuvalu shows that each of us needs to be environmentally-minded to preserve the global environment and bequeath it to subsequent generations.

Development of Ecosoft

As eco-friendly hardware has become common in recent years to minimize the environmental impact, software as well needs to serve the same purpose. Hitachisoft now develops environment-friendly software called Ecosoft, and has been improving the products based on its original standard for Ecosoft assessment. The products that are above the criteria will be registered as Eco-products in the Hitachi group. SI-LCA is used to evaluate the environmental impact of systems, software and services throughout their life cycles.

Elimination of toxic substances contained in products

Hitachisoft develops and provides hardware products such as StarBoards and Life Science related products. These products are required to exclude toxic substances which have an impact on the environment. In accordance with the guideline in the industry, Hitachisoft has been tackling the thorough elimination of lead solder in its products.

Proper Management of Chemical Substances

Hitachisoft owns a Life Science laboratory for its Bio research. For the proper control of chemical substances, Hitachisoft established its chemical management system that guides researchers and employees in handling chemicals. In addition, education and training are regularly offered to solidify the chemical management system.

Nurturing Eco-mind through communication with the local communities

Hitachisoft has been participating in the street-cleaning program organized by the local communities, which helps employees strengthen the tie and nurture eco-mind within the communities.

Environmental Management System

HitachiSoft achieved ISO14001 registration first in October, 2003 and then across the board in October, 2006. We are implementing continuous improvement in order to provide more environment-friendly products and services.
