- Create your XML documents easily and efficiently with this GUI program -
Hitachi Software Engineering Co., Ltd., (President: Hiroyuki Kanekiyo, headquartered in Yokohama Naka-ku, abbr.: Hitachi Software) and Pioneer Media Creates Corporation (President: Toshihide Hanada, headquartered in Meguro, Tokyo, abbr.: PMC), a firm of document creation specialists, have jointly developed an XML document creation tool that streamlines the workflow of creating XML documents. Called "Enterprise Publisher Lite," the program will be off the shelf starting in August.
Documents created in XML can be used for broad purposes; they might be used, for example, as infrastructures of business-to-business information exchange (B2B e-commerce) and in building in-house workflow. Even more, as a special characteristic of using XML, documents created in the language can be written to output media of all kinds now available (including CD-ROM, Web, cellular phone, and PDF) without needing modifications. It is also true, however, that XML documents cannot be created and managed without knowing the complexities of the syntaxes and constructs of the language. Enterprise Publisher Lite, developed by Hitachi Software, lets you create XML documents in a simple, efficient sequence of GUI manipulations. Its functions, including those for creating XML documents and managing document components in a database, back up extensive aspects of document creation, making the work of creating general XML documents drastically faster and less costly than before.
(1) GUI screens enable you to create XML documents in a title and text image, without needing a specialized concept of XML or being conscious of the complexities of its format.
(2) Management of the titles and text of XML documents in a database
- You can retrieve documents stored in the database as components and then make additions or modifications to their text or illustrations to generate new XML documents. Finished documents and work in process, and their components, are kept under integrated management in the database.
- Components of a document can be recycled by sentence or by chapter or section (components that require no modification are shared).
- Documents kept under integrated management in the database are easy to search for in whole or in part, assuring higher recycling efficiency and thus higher productivity.
(3) Ability to create XML documents to fit into a variety of applications
(4) No need for a specialized knowledge about XML to create documents
- The hierarchies and attributes of XML tags can be displayed in the GUI screen in an easy-to-understand Japanese format as in a document index. Document creators can select items displayed in Japanese in the screen from pulldown menu to create and edit text and illustrations, without being conscious of the tags appearing in XML.
(5) Ease of defining document structures
- DTD Assist Editor lets you create the hierarchies and attributes of XML tags, through GUI manipulations, that designate the structure of an XML document.
