Hitachi Software's Digital Board at Work in Teleconferencing at the
Auto Industry Conference Hosting by the Berlin State Government

The Berlin State Government and the Berlin Economic Development Corporation are hosting a two-day Auto Industry Conference in Tokyo on October 3 and in Nagoya on October 4. This conference is sponsored by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and the Japan Auto Parts Industries Association (JAPIA) with a view to enticing Japanese businesses to the German capital of Berlin, which has been rapidly emerging as a site of the auto industry. Since incorporating a European local corporation in Berlin last April at the eager request of the Berlin Economic Development Association, Hitachi Software has kept close ties with the Berlin State Government. For this conference, the government has urged Hitachi Software to use its Digital Board for teleconferencing.

In response to this urgent request for help from the Berlin Government, Hitachi Software decided to offer teleconferencing with its Digital Board to provide a direct presentation from Berlin to complement a lecture to be read by IAV, a Berlin-based leading auto engineering firm.

Like a whiteboard for the Age of PCs, the Digital Board projects a PC image onto a large screen, enabling the user to move a mouse over the image and enter text onto the screen using a pen supplied with the board.

Its features are as follows:

1. Hook up a PC to the projector, and the Digital Board displays documents created on that PC, including word-processed text and presentation material, on a large screen.
2. The Digital Board allows changes made directly to the documents displayed on the board screen to be saved to the PC for permanent storage.
3. Dedicated software makes teleconferencing that links multiple remote locations possible. Presentations featuring animation effects created at one location can be directly reflected in the Digital Board at another location.
