On June 6, 2004, HitachiSoft (Hitachi Software Engineering Co., Ltd. based in Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo with Takeo Ogawa as the CEO and president) launched the "Renopulse/Cross Basket (XBASKET hereinafter)" for intra-company requests using e-mail in Adobe® PDF(Portable Document Format)from any desired locations. There is a growing need for job efficiency improvement using the Intranet. Especially requests for traveling expenses or family allowance changes are widely supported by the Intranet. For applicants working outside (dispatched or traveling), however, such requests should once be sent to the company via facsimile or e-mail for subsequent manual processing via the Intranet, resulting in a bottleneck in job efficiency improvement. The XBASKET is a solution for companies having many employees working outside. It allows similar operation as with paper forms and realizes seamless linkage with the Intranet by means of its e-mail functions. Since it automatically delivers each request to the preset approvers, you do not need any other workflow software. It is also unnecessary for the clients to install any special software. The XBASKET automatically stores the request forms to reduce the cost for storage and filing. It allows easy access to the past request records by specifying the period and/or applicant to reduce the management workload. The XBASKET is also applicable to the case of internal users only. HitachiSoft will deliver the XBASKET either directly or through its distributors. The planned sales volume for the initial year is 100 sets.

The XBASKET extracts the data from the PDF request forms in the XML using the Adobe®Document Server (ADS), and automatically enciphers the PDF password and saves the attached file to PDF on the server side. On the other hand, it uses the Adobe® Document Server for Reader Extensions (ARE) to automatically grant special right for data save, comment and automatic mail transmission using only the PDF form and the Adobe®Reader® supplied free of charge. The request form can easily be prepared by the Adobe® Acrobat Professional 6.0. Thanks to the capability of scan layout from the paper medium and layout by the print menu from the electronic data, the person in charge of handling requests (in general affairs, accounting or administration department, for example) can create necessary forms without the need of any special skill.

The Adobe® PDF document software is familiar to users thanks to its capability of reproduction in the paper document image. We at HitachiSoft, through collaboration with Adobe Systems by making use of this feature of the Adobe® PDF, will try to expand our business by offering our customers with new solution proposal using the Renopulse series in the fields of corporate workflow, reporting and publishing.

The XBASKET supports application from a dispatch destination, approval after returning home, and secondary use of CSV/XML data after approval as illustrated below.
