Two Years in Cooperation with Microsoft
- Opened ".NET-dojo*1" to Bring up Engineers Required for
Handling Increasing .NET Projects -

Hitachi Software Engineering Co., Ltd. (based in Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo with Takeo Ogawa as the CEO and president, hereafter abbreviated as HitachiSoft) has established internal ".NET-dojo" with the assistance from Microsoft to satisfy the increasing demand for construction of Microsoft .NET systems. In ".NET-dojo", nine lecture courses are opened anew to train 2,000 highly skilled engineers in the next two years. Microsoft Co., Ltd. (based in Shibuya-ku Tokyo with Michael Rawding as the CEO and president, hereafter abbreviated as Microsoft) will provide the consulting service to assist overall training at ".NET-dojo" as a part of its PSC (Partner Strategy Consulting*2 ) service.

HitachiSoft and Microsoft have been providing system integration using Windowsa and various server products of Microsoft through the "X-Business Solution Center" jointly established in 2000 as the core. As a result of concentration on system integration using .NET after the release of .NET architecture from Microsoft in 2001, the number of inquiries exceeded 500 in the spring of 2004 and is still increasing. Especially now when projects for enterprise system construction using the .NET are increasing, construction with higher quality than ever is demanded in addition to the utilization of conventional skill and applications. It is, therefore, needed to provide training based on systematic curriculum to bring up much more .NET architects in addition to the .NET-handling engineers. HitachiSoft has opened ".NET-dojo" in the "X-Business Solution Center" to bring up engineers and architects required for handling of these .NET projects quickly in the future. With the assistance from Microsoft, curriculums are planned jointly for training 2,000 .NET engineers in total in two years to come.

The curriculums at ".NET-dojo" are deployed internally as a part of the "HEART*3" program for skill development within HitachiSoft. For the training of engineers, nine unique in- house lecture courses*4 are opened by utilizing Microsoft's consulting service to bring up practical, highly skilled core engineers.

Engineers are classified into the four levels below defined by both companies for training, and those trainees who attain each level are to be qualified for their skill level by Microsoft's consultants.

# Class Trainees Level
1 .NET experts 30 Capable of project management, .NET system design and troubleshooting.
2 .NET specialists 500 Capable of system design based on .NET framework.
3 .NET senior engineers 1,000 Capable of application development using the .NET technologies based on the design document.
4 .NET engineers 500 Have an understanding of the basic .NET framework operation.

Microsoft has provided consulting services such as presenting .NET-engineer training project proposal, preparing the definite execution plan and carrying out follow-up as a part of PSC for the establishment of ".NET-dojo" this time. The next goal of PSC is to standardize the .NET development process in alliance with HitachiSoft to implement more productive .NET development design methods and tools.
HitachiSoft and Microsoft will promote .NET business by the trained engineers to spread .NET applications.
