HitachiSoft's Information Security Solution Hibun
Reaches 1 Million Licensees
Personal Information Protection Law Fuels Rapidly Increasing Demand

The Hibun series of information security solutions produced by HitachiSoft has recently broken the one-million licensee mark.

Offering solutions to prevent the leakage of confidential information while balancing the three pillars of information security ? confidentiality, comprehensiveness, and availability the Hibun series reached a cumulative sales figure of 1,080,000 licenses in March 2005. As of the end of this month, there are over 1,000 companies from a wide range of industries using the Hibun software, including government agencies, as well as financial, manufacturing, service, and other firms, both large and small.

HitachiSoft is working to raise awareness of the importance of information security and to develop products that can prevent data leakage. The trailblazing Hibun series has established itself as one of the industry's top brands by offering a vision of security and peace of mind to customers, and by continuing to offer new applications ? from the Hibun Safe Personal, to the Hibun Enterprise for corporate users, to the Hibun Advanced Edition (Hibun AE). The Hibun AE series currently on the market is based on the concept of preventing removal of information, preventing leakage even if information is removed, and protection through access control. The technology focuses on the function of preventing data leaks from client PCs, which pose a high potential security risk.

Instead of just security product "functions," HitachiSoft offers total security measures through a combination of consulting and software solutions to protect the information assets of customers. In June 2004, the company announced a new direction for the Hibun 2004 Concept, and launched a series of products to help customers meet the Information Security Management System (ISMS) certification standards, as a total security product for information loss prevention.

Hibun

Centered on Hibun AE Secure Inspector, which provides a Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) security management cycle as prescribed by the ISMS criteria, in fiscal 2005 Hibun will continue to grow with a succession of new products with enhanced functions. They will be based on the Total Management Security System that encompasses the assessment of information assets (Plan), strengthening and expanding security measures (Do), log data gathering and inspection (Check), and revision of security measures (Act). HitachiSoft will continue to advance this technology, providing customers with security and peace of mind.

(*) ISMS (Information Security Management System) certification criteria: A Japanese information security criteria program based on the international BS7799 standards for information security.
