TOKYO, May 26, 2005- HitachiSoft opened the FPT Development Center in Hanoi, Vietnam today as an offshore software development base. The purpose of this center is to strengthen HitachiSoft's production system for software development in Vietnam, and to further improve productivity and quality.

As an offshore development base, the FPT Development Center is starting out in fiscal 2005 with a development system staff of 100 people. The center will survey and cultivate the IT service market in Vietnam, and promote business expansion. As a global product development base for HitachiSoft, the center will focus on consigned development of HitachiSoft package products, and will also promote sales of the English version of AnyGIS, a map information system, and other products.

The new center has been set up within FPT Software, an affiliate of the Corporation for Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT), Vietnam's largest IT company. FPT has been working under consignment to HitachiSoft for the development of its main package products since 2003. On May 26, an opening ceremony will be held for the FPT Development Center, and various Vietnamese government officials, including the Vice Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, are expected to attend.
