AnyWarp for BREW 1.2 Adds Custom Widget Features for Greater Flexibility in GUI Development
HitachiSoft today announced the release of anyWarp® for BREW 1.2, the latest version of the company's GUI development tool for mobile handsets supporting QUALCOMM' s BREW*1 platform. Japanese and English versions of the software will be simultaneously released on July 1, 2005.
AnyWarp for BREW 1.2 adds new features enabling developers to work with their own custom-designed widgets.*2 When combined with the standard widgets found in QUALCOMM's BREW UI Toolkit, developers can use anyWarp for BREW to pick and choose between standard and fully customized widgets within the same development screen, for greater flexibility and ease of use in GUI development. Developers that use anyWarp for BREW 1.2 can create BREW applications for mobile handsets in a shorter amount of time and with greater efficiency.
AnyWarp for BREW Version 1.2 also supports the latest BREW UI Toolkit 1.1.3, enabling use of the newest widgets.
In January 2005, HitachiSoft released anyWarp for BREW 1.0, the industry's first GUI development tool to support BREW 3.1 and BREW UI Toolkit. In March 2005, the company released anyWarp for BREW 1.1 with improved operating features and added support for BREW 2.1, the most widely implemented version of the BREW platform. With the release of anyWarp for BREW 1.2, HitachiSoft adds even further functionality for developers.
AnyWarp for BREW 1.2 was demonstrated at the HitachiSoft booth at the recent BREW 2005 Conference held from June 1-3 in San Diego, California, receiving considerable praise from BREW developers at that international conference. HitachiSoft will also demonstrate AnyWarp for BREW 1.2 at its booth at the forthcoming 8th Embedded Systems Expo & Conference (ESEC), to be held at the Tokyo Big Site Exhibition Center from June 29 to July 1.
*1 QUALCOMM's Binary Runtime for Wireless Environment (BREW) solution is an application platform for mobile handsets. First released in January 2001, the application platform enables content providers to create BREW-based applications based on openly distributed Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). These applications are designed to run on BREW-enabled mobile handsets including EZ Appli Brew-enabled handsets.
*2 Widgets are interface components such as buttons, menus, and scrollbars.
